Dr. László Ürge – Chief Executive Officer

Dr. László Ürge – CEODr. László Ürge was appointed as the CEO of ThalesNano in March 2007. From 2001 to 2006 Dr. Ürge was the CEO of ComGenex Inc, an integrated drug discovery service provider. In 2006 he was the Vice President of European Operations for AMRI Hungary. Earlier he held the positions of Head of Pharmaceutical development at Biorex R&D Inc, an innovative biotechnology company. Prior to that he was a research group leader at Neurex Corporation (CA, USA) later acquired by Elan Pharmaceuticals. He did his postdoc at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia and at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. He is a Vice President of the Hungarian Association for Innovation and a Member of the Board of the Hungarian Biotechnology Association. Dr. Ürge is author of 90 publications and patents and a holder of two R&D awards.


Carl Jones – Head of Sales

Carl Jones has over 20 years of success in the life sciences field. He was appointed Head of Sales in January 2008 to develop direct sales and distribution channels for ThalesNano. Prior to joining ThalesNano, he has held a variety of senior positions including Sales Director Europe, Middle East and Africa for Thermo Biosciences where he managed 8 subsidiaries plus distribution channels, CEO, Affinity Sensors, an evanescent wave optical biosensor company, VP Sales and Marketing USA for Labsystems and various Business Development and Business Unit management roles in the life sciences instrumentation sector.

 

 


Erzsébet Pálné Tari – Financial Director

Erzsébet Pálné Tari – Finanical DirectorErzsébet Pálné Tari was appointed as the Financial Director of ThalesNano in March 2007. She has also been the CEO of ComInnex since February 2006. Prior to this, she was a founder, a Board Member and the Controller for Comgenex between 1994 and 2006. She was as a Founder of ThalesNano in 2002 and established the financial systems of the company. Erzsébet Pálné Tari graduated from the Budapest Business School, College of Finance and Accountancy and she is a Certified Public Accountant.

 

 


Richard Jones – Director of Product Management

Richard Jones – Director of Product ManagementRichard Jones is responsible for product direction and user experience for the entire line of ThalesNano instruments. He joined ThalesNano in July of 2004 where he started as Chief Research Chemist, helping to develop the chemistry on the H-Cube and other flow reactors. He then went on to become Product Manager of the R&D 100 Award winning H-Cube before becoming Director of Product Management. Prior to ThalesNano, Richard was at Biofocus Discovery and worked on the synthesis of several Kinase and GPCR inhibitor based compound libraries. Richard studied chemistry at the University of Bristol where he graduated with honors in 1999. 

 


Attila Francsics - Director - Production & Worldwide Support

Attila Francsics - Director - Production & Worldwide SupportAttila Francsics is responsible for Production, Logistics and Customer Service. He was formerly Engineering Group Leader for Philips monitor production at its plant in Hungary. He also was responsible for new product coordination with Taiwan. At Jabil Circuits, Francsics was Test Engineering Manager responsible for the production lines of consumer electrical devices. He was also responsible for the Nokia European Repair Center business. Francsics is a holder of different quality awards (PQA, ISO) and a business leadership award (PBE) and is experienced in implementing LEAN. 

 

 

Dr. Viktor Gyóllai - Head of Chemistry

Dr. Viktor GyóllaiDr. Viktor Gyóllai is responsible for chemical activities at ThalesNano, including research for chemical applications in flow, custom flow reactions, catalyst development and chemical support for instrument development.
He graduated as a chemist, chemistry-teacher and Hungarian-English translator at University of Debrecen (Hungary) in 1997 and earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the same university in 2001.
Between 2001 and 2007, he worked for TEVA Pharmaceuticals as a synthetic project leader dealing with the synthesis of generic drug molecules.
Then he spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher at Royal Technical University, Stockholm. His research field included the synthesis of Ru- and Ir-complexes as potential catalysts for catalytic oxidation of water by visible light.
Dr. Gyóllai is co-author of 6 publications in international journals and 14 patents.
