Accelerating Hydrogenation

Accelerating Hydrogenation

ThalesNano will be hosting a 45 minute webinar on Accelerating Hydrogenation. The webinar will be educational and will focus on teaching chemists a novel way of performing and scaling-up hydrogenation that will make your chemistry faster and safer with better yield.

Date: June 18, 2009 | 9:00AM - 10:00 AM | CEST
         June 18, 2009 | 4:00PM - 5:00 PM | CEST

Location: Online

Who should attend:

  • Organic chemists from pharmaceutical, fine chemical, and petrochemical industries
  • Chemists interested in speeding up their hydrogenation reactions and making them safer to perform
  • Chemists fascinated about novels ways of performing chemistry

What will you learn:

  • How to perform a hydrogenation without hydrogen cylinders
  • How to react compounds at 100°C and 100 bar safely.
  • How to reduce down a series of functional groups in only 5 minutes.
  • How to perform automated hydrogenation for library synthesis and catalyst screening.
  • How to quickly move to scale-up quantity

The webinar will be split into two sections.
The first section will be a scientific presentation by Richard Jones, M.Sc, Director of Product Management, and will give an overview of how hydrogenation can be accelerated significantly using flow. The following topics will be presented:

  • Hydrogenation using flow: background and advantages over present day techniques
  • Detailed chemistry examples of hydrogenation performed in flow from literature and industry.
  • Automation of hydrogenation for library synthesis or catalyst screening

The second part of the seminar will be given by Dr. Toma Glasnov, University of Graz who will focus on the flow hydrogenation and deuteration that they have performed
